Airport History:

A 1995 USGS Aerial Photo of the David Jay Perry Airport.  When the airport was built during or just before WWII, it was originally a paved octagon, allowing pilots to land and takeoff into the wind regardless of its direction.  In this picture the Octogon is still clearly visible.  Two grass runways are also faintly visible, one parallel to 13/31 and one perpendicular.

This USGS image from January 29, 1962 shows the Octagon landing area and possibly a trailer house on the west side of the field.
